Q: Could a portion of the OCC funding support crew lead and assistant positions held by individuals older than 26 who are serving as mentors for the young adult crew members?
A: Yes, absolutely. OCC can pay for adult staff over 26, those folks just don’t ‘count’ in our youth participant numbers/data.
Q: Could the funding support crewmember positions working on USFS managed lands in the WUI with some of the work occurring on Tribal, private, and other public lands?
A: Yes, but the work must occur with the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). Funding will not pay for any work outside the WUI.
Q: Is the OCC funding considered State funding and therefore able to support work across landownerships, including federal, private, public and Tribal lands?
A: Yes, it is state funding. We encourage working with communities, including private landowners and Tribal lands, that are disproportionately affected by wildfire activities and can benefit from any work that occurs as a result of OCC funding.
