Welcome, Eastern Oregon Mentors!

Mentors support the intern in the Eastern Oregon WORKS Internship Program by meeting weekly or bi-weekly with their assigned intern either in-person or virtually to check in on how they are doing in the program, at their job, and help guide them in professional development throughout their internship.

Your duties as a Mentor are to: 

• Complete the mentor application and background check request
• Complete mentor orientation
• Connect with your intern (Phone, Email, Text)
• Meet with your assigned intern regularly (usually weekly or bi-weekly for 15-30 minutes) to help support them in their internship and career journey
• Assist intern with their weekly reports if needed (survey style); Inform your internship program coordinator of any concerns, if applicable 
• Submit an exit survey about the mentorship 

The Eastern Oregon WORKS Internship Program was created because in eastern Oregon, businesses have been telling us that they are unable to find candidates with key basic work skills to fill roles in their companies. This program is about growing a workforce, promoting job opportunities, elevating local businesses, and attracting and retaining a new generation of talent in our communities.
