About Eastern Oregon Workforce Board

Mentor Orientation

The Youth Program Coordinator will go over what it means to be a mentor and answer any questions you may have.

The Eastern Oregon WORKS Internship Program is designed to address the need for candidates with essential work skills in our region's businesses. By joining as a mentor, you'll play a vital role in guiding and supporting interns as they embark on their professional journeys.

Here's how the program works:

  • Commitment: Mentors meet weekly or bi-weekly for at least 15 minutes  with their assigned intern, either in-person or virtually, to provide guidance and support throughout their internship.
  • Duties: Your responsibilities as a mentor include completing the mentor application and background check, attending a mentor orientation (virtual option available), connecting with your intern initially, meeting regularly with your intern, assisting with weekly reports if needed, and submitting an exit survey about the mentorship.
  • Benefits: As a mentor, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a young person's life, contribute to workforce development in our community, and gain personal satisfaction from helping someone grow and succeed.

The Eastern Oregon WORKS Internship Program is not only about growing our workforce and promoting job opportunities but also about elevating local businesses and attracting and retaining talent in our communities.

Before the program begins, we will provide a virtual Mentor Orientation to go over the guidelines and answer any questions you may have. You may also Contact Us
